It has been a busy month as June is for most people. We celebrated Día de Madres (Mothers Day), Día de Padres (Fathers Day), and Día de Niños (Children’s Day). So, in good Nicaraguan fashion we had a fiesta for each one. Fiestas in Nicaragua are celebrated with piñatas, cake, and Rojito (which is the worst pop flavor in the entire world).
Along with all the fiestas, life has been filled with finishing school, planting vegetables, and preparing for the team coming next week. I was also in Costa Rica this month to renew my visa. I had a really good time hanging out with Esther and the girls and experiencing a new country.
July promises to be just as busy, as I am joining the work team as well as continuing to teach the children the first and last weeks of July. The work team will be helping to build a shelter for Bible study; also we are going to be finishing off the new Sunday school room. It has been encouraging to see the need for a bigger space for the Bible studies and the growth of the Sunday school class as well. I have been especially blessed by two young girls that come faithfully every Sunday and are excited for the Bible lesson. I love watching them sing and pray with enthusiasm and joy.
I have been studying Spanish fairly consistently and have seen a bit of improvement in this area. I was very excited the other day because I was actually able to have somewhat of a conversation in Spanish. You might think that after being here for almost six months that should be easy for me. But, I have to tell you that learning a new language is very difficult, and having the courage to test it is even more difficult.
God has really lain on my heart Philippians 4; especially the verses 4 – 9. I know that these are verses that we have heard over and over again but I still find it challenging to me. I need to learn to rejoice in the LORD in all circumstances ad that I should not worry about anything. Instead, I need to communicate will God and spend more time praising, worshipping, and getting to know Him; giving Him all my worries and anxieties.
One of these worries is money; worrying if I will have enough money to complete my year here in Nicaragua. In this, I have to trust the LORD that he will work in the hearts of people to give. If you would like to support the LORD’s ministry in Nicaragua, the information is below.
